What is personal jurisdiction? Hi, I’m Muskogee Attorney Eric L. Strocen and I have that answer. Personal jurisdiction is the court’s power to bind the parties to a particular controversy, to a judgment, or an order that they have set forth.
It can be achieved through service of process under the applicable state law. Meaning that here in Oklahoma, if you’re in a different state, Oklahoma has a long-arm statute, meaning we can reach out to that state and say, “Hey, you have to answer for this here in our state.”
If you’re having some kind of controversy and need some assistance from a trained legal professional, you can call us here at the Wirth Law Offices or visit us online at muskogeeattorney.com. Thanks.
