A Court Reporter Captures the Live Testimony in Court
Video Transcribed: Who is the person typing everything that is said in the courtroom? Hi, I’m Eric Strocen. I’m an attorney in Muskogee with the Wirth Law Offices. I run our Muskogee office, and I’m here to explain.
Today, we’re talking about court reporters, people who are tasked with the job of making sure that everything is on record in your hearings, meaning that they literally sit there typing out everything that is said.
At times, the judge may slow the hearing down so that the court reporter can hear. The court reporter themselves may be like, “Hey, I didn’t hear what you said,” and directs you differently.
It is something that is there to make sure that there is an adequate record of the proceedings today. You and most hearings have the right to ask for a court reporter to be present in order to preserve the record.
What that does do for you is allow an appeal later or for you to submit what happened to an attorney that you hire in the future. If you have a confidential matter that you need to get legal help on, please reach out to the Muskogee Criminal Defense Attorney at the Wirth Law Offices.
