When a neighbor causes damage to your property there are some statutes that refer to specific pieces of property, whether it be trees, whether it be fencing or things like that.
One of the most important things you can do to protect your property is to have an updated and appropriate survey done to make sure that you know exactly where that property line ends and begins.
Now, in the case of trees, if someone is coming onto your land and chopping down trees, destroying trees, and you’re able to provide that proof, you could be looking at a substantial recovery for the costs that would be associated with maybe replanting that tree or what you could have gotten from that tree.
