What is larceny under Oklahoma law? I’m Muskogee Attorney Eric Strocen, with the Wirth Law Offices, and I’m here to explain. Now, there are two levels under Oklahoma law of larceny, petite larceny going first with punishments that range from fines to up to a year in jail. This is typically what the district attorney’s office can seek if the value of the goods that you’re accused of stealing are less than $1,000.
Where things get complicated is when we start to talk about grand larceny. When the goods are above $1,000, or in some cases, when they’re firearms, then you could be facing felony charges and could spend more than a year in jail and face larger fines than it would be if it was petite larceny in Muskogee.
